Reggie Brown No Republican Clown

Preface: The Republican Leadership conference was designed to showcase the top republican leaders and their ideology for the country. The topics of discussion limited government, fiscal responsibility and rebuilding the economy. But before they got down to business they invited an entertainer for the opening ceremony.

The Republican crowd chuckled and cackled when the jokes were all about Obama. It was funny stuff when he commented that his favorite month of the year was February as Michelle celebrated the whole month and he only half.

The crowd found it hilarious when he said he had his team of experts use the latest computer technology to predict what he and Michelle would look like at the end of his first term.  The result showed a picture of Fred Sanford and Aunt Ester with her fists set in a boxing mode. But when the invited Obama impersonator flipped the script and started talking about Barbara Bush, Romney, Gingrich and Pawlenty...not so much.

Wilson Held Hostage - Long Enough

Dear Fellow Wilsonians, Did you know,

Some mayors around Eastern NC are aggressively seeking ways  to get their cities and towns from underneath the claw of ElectriCities. They're forming a coaltion and the Citizens of Wilson should pay attention. Bruce Rose is not one of them.

But you already know that. He's not even giving it consideration. You also know that too. We're not really telling you anything you don't already know.

Regardless if the City of Wilson refuses to be a part of this coaliton, the Citizens of Wilson should not be held hostage by their refusal but rather take an active role in supporting and joining these mayors.

Education is the Not the Enemy

Providing our children with a “sound, basic education” and making higher education as “affordable as practicable” are promises so sacred, we put them in our state constitution.

Those promises are under attack in the shell fire of the Republican budget passed recently. In Nash-Rocky Mount, Wilson and Pitt County schools alone, $18 million will be cut from the classroom. For many of our teachers, teaching assistants, and school staff, the last day of school will be followed by the first day of unemployment.

The Republican budget cuts universities by $414 million, which will result in eliminating courses, programs, and thousands of faculty and staff.

Wilson Co. Dem News - Jason Kessler, 3rd Congressional District Appointment

Jason Kessler, recently went to the Third Congressional District Democratic Party Convention held in Manteo this year. Upon arrival, he represented WIlson County as the third-vice chair for the county party.

By the end of the convention, he was elected as second vice-chair of the Third Congressional District. Not only does he cover Wilson county now but several others as well. Kessler still serves as chair of his home Precinct, K.

Wilson Co. Dem News - Zette McArn - 1st Congressional District Appoinment

"The roadmap that takes us from where we are to where we wanna be starts in our neighborhoods, amongst our family and friends."

Connectivity & Communication is essential. One of the task that lies before us is the challenge of finding invigorating and ingenious ways to engage the community in the process as we move toward 2012 before we get there

Active participation from the precinct to the party is a necessity. A Concerted collaboration from the county to the convention is crucial. The Road to the White House runs through North Carolina.

It is indeed, an honor and awesome opportunity to have been chosen to serve the NC Democratic Party on this level as the new Secretary of the First Congressional District. We've assembled a great team together and I look forward to meeting fellow democrats across the 23 counties we cover.

As a matter of fact, I was in Northampton County on Saturday at a meeting with the Eastern NC Civic group in Garysburg. So I've found myself already engaging in the activity of the District, one week after being selected to serve.

We're encouraging our neighbors to get involved in the activites of their local precincts,"EARLY and STAY ENGAGED" throughout the year leading into 2012.

If fellow Wilsonians find there's nothing going on in their precinct, then the challenge would be for them to go forth and make something happen. And don't be shy about it. Folks need to find out who they're precinct leaders are, where they are, what they're planning for their area and how they can help. And The sooner the better. (smile)

All Things Republican with a cup of Tea

Local "Republican Residents" and Tea Party-People alike appear to have had a ball over the weekend as they attended the NCGOP Convention in Wilmington. By all accounts, the trip and the convention was a great success.

NC GOP chair, Robin Hayes introduced the keynote speaker incoming Congressman Allen West serving since January 2011. West is the first African American Republican Congressman from Florida since 1876.

The Congressman opened by saying he couldn't decide what color tie to wear red, (NCSU), black and gold,(WF) so it boiled down to what shade of blue. You'll have to watch the video to find out which he decided.

Not the Tortoise & the Hare

It’s angered many. Disturbed some. Even "tickled" a few. It’s the talk on the street. The main topic of conversation on the phone … The Sheriff and the Judge.

"It’s a mess I tell you," said one neighbor to another. "What in the world is going on?" Well, it’s a little more than boyish antics found on the schoolyard and the community …Not So Much …  approves of the scuffle.
