Hey Councilman Evans, Listen Carefully

Councilman Donald Evans stated in a news article that appeared in the Wilson Times that he did not see the need for the same comments each month or repeated complaints without any solid solutions.

Yet, when citizens ask to be placed on the agenda to share those resolutions you deny them the opportunity. That's spitting in the wind.

Council Members Deny Public Access

At the City Council meeting on Thursday, December 8th, in a vote of 5 to 2,  Council members decided not to air the "Call on the Audience" portion of the council meeting stating folks were complaining about the same old things and using the time as a platform used to promote them running for office. Council members James Johnson, Donald Evans, Liles Logan, AP Coleman and spearheaded by Bill Blackmon all voted to shut it down.

We've seen no signs of such allegations, however what we see is a local government who is attempting to suppress citizens' right to the first amendment and right to public access of their local govermental affairs and citizens' comments for all to hear. Fabricated lies based on what they believe to be true is no reason to deny citizens their right to public access. Of course, there's more to come. Keep listening.

Democratic state Rep. Larry Womble got a good night's rest Saturday night and is resting.
He was listed in critical but stable condition at Baptist Hospital Saturday night, after a deadly car crash late Friday night.

Womble's spokesperson, Tonya Wiley says he has multiple injuries and is not talking. It could be a while before we know the full extent of his injuries.

Schools for the Deaf & Blind Remain Open

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina's public school for the blind will no longer be freestanding, while empty space on the campus and the state's two schools for the deaf could be leased out for other educational offerings to save money, according to a draft report on their future released Monday.

The Department of Public Instruction was required by the General Assembly in this year's budget to decide to close one of the state's three K-12 day and residential schools for the deaf or blind. State schools Superintendent June Atkinson released a draft report well ahead of its Jan. 15 deadline to a legislative oversight committee.

MISSING CHILD - Robeson County

UPDATE:

PEMBROKE — Police have also located the 19-year-old Lumberton woman who had not been heard from since Nov. 13.

Adrianna Chavis, of Norment Road, was found Tuesday evening in Clinton with her biological mother. She had been staying there for several days, according to Dwayne Hunt, assistant police chief with the Pembroke Police Department.
