RE:  SOULS TO THE POLLS:  An Invitation of Participation

Greetings To You;

For the first time in the history of Wilson County there will be Sunday Voting…
And . . . THAT’S A BIG-DEAL!

In a concerted community effort called ‘Souls to the Polls’, we’re asking ALL Faith-Based Community Churches, Ministries, Synagogues, Mosques, it doesn’t matter the denomination, to engage in helping Wilsonians attend to the matters of performing their civic duty and responsibility.

On Sunday, October 28, 2012 citizens will have the opportunity to VOTE.

After your service on that day, we’re asking you to load up YOUR vans, buses and cars to begin the caravan to the Wilson Board of Elections office to vote. The hours will be from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm. This is the last Sunday prior Election Day & the only Sunday that has been designated.

We’re Encouraging Voting Early. In this election season, there are so many distractions including issues related to voter suppression and having a voter ID. We want to ensure every vote is counted and everyone who is eligible to vote and wants to vote will be able to do so.

To the best of our ability, we want to eliminate citizens being denied the right to vote or turned away from their polling places on election day for reasons of technicality.

“Souls to the Polls” is a community effort we can all pitch in and successfully make happen.

Join with other pastors who have made the pledge to participate in this community campaign. Pastor M.K. Smith of Christ Temple of Praise and Pastor George Ward of Greater Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Stantonsburg have both made the pledge and declared a challenge between themselves to see who will get the most members there on that Sunday. They have also extended that challenge to the entire Wilson County community.

Please make the decision to actively participate and share this project with your congregation.

As a suggestion, you may want to pick an individual from amongst your congregation to coordinate your church’s effort. Should you need further assistance or have questions I am available to lend assistance.

Thank you. Hope to see you at the polls on Sunday!
