The Old Nichols Dept. Store Building on Hwy 301

Thursday, March 23, 2012 front page Wilson Times - caption under the photo read;

In its heyday, U.S. 301 was a busy, flourishing corridor for business. A person could rent a room at a nice hotel, eat at a good restaurant, buy a car, see a doctor and get a prescription filled, right there on the strip, according to many Wilson residents ...

A Mom Mourns & A Father's Fret = This One Day Neither Will Ever Forget My Baby-Boy is Dead

My Child went to the the store today ... and he never came back home.

My Beautiful Baby-Boy, so jovial, full of energy and a zest for life went to get him a snack from a neighborhood convenient store and loss his life at the hands of somebody who believed he was up to no good. The opposite was never more true.

IN HIS OWN NEIGHBORHOOD, coming home. Back where he belong. IN HIS OWN NEIGHBORHOOD. A gated community, where safety abides, where incidents like this tragedy are not suppose to occur.

My SON ... is not ever coming back home to me. Somebody down the street killed him. He followed him, stalked him down, confronted him, shot him and killed him. Shot him DEAD. On the scene.

MY SON IS DEAD.

MY CHILD WENT TO THE STORE TODAY...
AND NEVER CAME BACK HOME.

The IMAGE of FANATICAL

A zealot racist guised as a neighborhood watch captain who's still free to roam the streets, if he hasn't fled the country already.

Hmmm, wonder what the folks in his neighborhood association are saying about this guy right about now...

COURAGE is getting up, stepping out and speaking against injustice, inequality and disparities that you see everyday in the place you call home.

It takes "Courage" to make an effort to make a difference in the face of those who sit back, kick their feet up, relax and drink their beer and wine while watching the City Council meetings criticizing those who care enough to share and voice their community concerns. A word to the wise in the message below. you need to get it. And here's something you didn't learn at that university you got that degree from college. Use your head for something other than a hatrack or something to keep your ears apart.

SO... What's Your Problem

We're slicing up and dishing it out ... a piece of southern-style "Sweet Shi'diggity Gotta-Get-It Off Our Mind Pie" ... You want some milk to go with that???

Dearly Beloved, Shall we remind you, this is Amrerica. Land of the free. Home of the brave. And regardless, whether you like it or not, anybody, anywhere can run for office should they so desire.

Your blessing. Not required.
Your approval. Not needed.
Your Opinion, Disagree and keep it movin'.

Rhetorical Propaganda

For what it was worth, last week those interested converged in Raleigh to hear what legislators had to say about NCEMPA, ElectriCities and high electric rates in downeast cities and towns dealing high utility charges.

Fed Up with Foolishness

Some folks just don't get it, won't get or simply have no clue when it comes to ... "MATURITY" within this community. For clarity, in the sense that you're way past being grown (like in your 70's & 80's) and still trying to run a game on folks. What you ain't done by now, won't get done. Go find some peace. Make peace. And be at peace. That's the best you can do now... For Real, Joe.

Mayoral Candidate Forum

This session concludes a series of open forum
interviews with all the mayoral candidates.

Thursday, March 8, 2012

A legislative committee studying ways to reduce electric rates for cities, including Wilson, met yesterday to review its findings that could lead to legislation... Wonder how that turned out.

The NCEMPA debt of $2.1 billion is shared by the 32 cities, with Wilson’s share at $326 million. The debt is planned to retire in 2026. Or so they say. The previous timeframe to retire the debt was around 2016.  This issue has become "Talking Points" for several candidates in the upcoming election on the House and Senate level. We all know what "talk" is compared to "action."

Will it go 'round in circles or will it fly high like a bird up in the sky... Rhetorical propaganda is not a solution to this issue.

The Wilson County Board of Elections was busy Wednesday with candidates trying to beat the noon deadline to file for office.
