2012 MLK Jr. Unity March

Hello Friends & Fellow Wilsonians,

As we approach the King Holiday celebrations, we're excited to share with you the announcement of a Community Unity March scheduled for Monday, January 16th, 2012 this year.

This inauguaral event celebrates the rich African American heritage Wilsonians have celebrated for years and brings awareness to stopping the violence recently invading our communities.

The theme is Homage. Heritage. Here & Now.

HOMAGE being a reverence paid in a public show of honor.  HERITAGE represents a celebration of all the rich culture and tradition passed down thru the ages.  HERE & NOW reflects upon the memories of the young people we have lost to the senseless violence and the positive actions being taken as a community to put a stop to it. We're inviting you to join the effort.

The Unity March will begin at 10:30 am /The meeting place and starting point will be the Reid Street Community Center. We'll walk through the neighborhoods and end at St. James Community Church on MLK Jr. Pkwy.

So after you eat breakfast, come walk it off.

This Unity March is History, Our History in the present tense. Become an active participant and share the info with a friend! Anybody, Everybody & all Ethnicities are welcomed.

WE ARE THE ONES, Dr. KING MARCHED FOR.
The least we can do is return the favor, imitate the gesture.
 Homage. Heritage. Here & Now.
