I agree...that smirk says it all! I think they could have chosen a better picture without trying too hard.

They probably could have but it is what it is; Gestures like this is what this campaign has been dealing with all along. This journey has been a long row to hoe. If you wanna call it a smirk not a problem, others may see it as the smile of a humble hearted victor whose spirit is in the right place for all the citizens of this county. Let us celebrate this day. Be at Peace

Ask Calvin what happened at Gardners Elementary about his daughter Jasmine that he took to the Department of Justice b/c he said what happened was b/c she was black. Then you'll see the true Calvin Woodard.

to little to late. He is now our sheriff and we need to show him the respect that comes with that.

Well, Anonymous, I can see you have nothing to do today but mind other people's business. I have taken things to the superintendent when things happened to my kids. That is what parents are fore, to stand up for you when an injustice occurs. I even took my son out of kindegarten because of his teachers unkindness and I had had enough. He was not black, we lived in subsidized housing while I was going to school. She thought I was less than her because of where I lived. She thought it was okay to be unkind to my child. Some people like to intimidate you and be bullies. I do not know what happened to Calvin's daughter but I know it is none of my business and none of yours. I would not be surprised if you had something to do with it. If Calvin Woodard is protective of his child, so be it, he is a good parent and in company with the rest of the good parents in our county. So do everyone a favor and quit spreading rumors about our new Sheriff. I just spent the last 8 months working with Calvin Woodard and he is a wonderful son, husband, father and friend among other things. I would trust his judgment in any situation. This county is proud to have someone of his caliber become our top law enforcement officer. So go spread your rumors somewhere else, we don't want to hear or read that kind of negativity or rumors here on this site. Have a great Day. Go volunteer, do something good for someone else and keep your rumors to yourself.

If there was discrimination in any way for Calvin's daughter because she is black, he should have stood up for her like any good father would do. There are laws against discrimination in case you do not know about them. You have gotten the fact that our new sheriff is Afro American and something that happened to his child because of discrimination completely mixed up. They are different. Stop and think before you post things you probably know little about. In other words, educate yourself about the facts before you go spreading rumors.

Mr Woodard is our new sherif and desereves our resoect. He has not taken office yet and until he does lets all give him the benifit of doubt. Lets see wat he does before we start pointing fingers. I am white, and I voted for Mr. Woodard, not because of his color but i beieve his was "the best man" for the job. Sheriff Gay was white, Farmer was white, And Baily was white. When the incident we have all read about that occured in the detectives building, we saw the results. A white detective, a his-spanic seceratary, both should have lost their job, but only the his-spanic female was gone. The detective is still there. So befroe we start making Mr. Woodard a racist, lets all remember sounds kinda like that is what was going on before. No one screamed and complained when Bass kept his job. Why would we not complain a non white female and white detective both involved, she is gone he is not.....that sounds racist, and all superiors involved were white.
No lets give MR. Woodard a chance to do good or fail on his own merits before we judge him. I agree, i think any of us would protect our kids. If I were a certian detective I might be working on my resume, for if Mr. Woodard wants to clean up Wilson county, the first place he needs to look, is over in the detective's building and start there.

@ Anonymous who spoke about Gardners school. Since you shared that much and it seems that you know about the situation why didn't you share with the rest of us what it is YOU THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT THE REAL CALVIN WOODARD. You stopped short of doing that. What exactly will we find? The strength of a father to protect his children. Justice against those who discriminate unjustly. What exactly is it you wanted us to know. You want folks to think Calvin Woodard isn't what he seems to be. You wants folks to think Calvin Woodard operates in ulterior motives. That's what you want folks to think...BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING..It's imbeciles like you that give Wilson a bad rap. You're a hater and a loser and wannabe hellraiser. But can't nobody raise more hell than me. SO, IF I WERE YOU I'd mind my own beeswax, keep the gossip to yourself and if you can't write any better than what you've already done - stay the hell away from this site. Your kind ain't welcomed round these here parts. WE GOT A NEW SHEIRFF IN TOWN... THE PEOPLE HAVE VOTED...and ain't a damn thing you can do about it now!

Calvin's ideas and plans are totally unrealistic. One of his original ideas to have deputies go to the homes of suspended students to check that they are there caused all of my teacher colleagues to fall out laughing. His inexperience and naivete have me worried about the future of Wilson County.

Yeah...they said the same about others and were proven wrong too. Reminds me of the stories we hear associated with ...let's see the guy who had the apple fall on top of his head, the fellow who flew a kite in a storm, the fellow who was told to build an ark before it started to rain and that gray head fellow who came up with this E=mc2 stuff...pretty sure they had their share of folks laughing at them too. Lest we remind you teacher and your fellow cohorts..he who laughs last...you know the rest! ROFLMAO!You geniuses think you know it all...humm ...if that be the case the question is teacher...why is it we don't see your name or some of your friends' names beside Wilson Co Sheriff Elect? Surely, you all would enjoy that kind of salary versus what you're probably making now. Talk that smack amongst yourselves - nobody HERE wants to HEAR it.
