When I Remember the Month of May, I always remember my Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Hattie Daniels and her daughter, Baby Ruth. On this last day of May, before the eve turns to morn, I must take the time to reminisce if only for a moment of fonder days gone by. This story is one I've wanted to share way before now, but time has a way of "getting away."

Civil War Craziness - Part II
Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Civil War Craziness continues, and why am I surprised? After all, the Wilson Times said that this craziness would last another four years. In fact what was stated in their opinion section on 01-20-2011 the article Learning from the past. “For African Americans, finding events to be nostalgic about during these next four years may be difficult. Yet like it or not, there will be anniversary commemorations from now until 2015.”
Well readers, I don’t like it! And what I don’t like the most about this is the easiness of acceptance of this craziness by the African American Community.

Quote: “Today we affirm a new commitment to live out our nation’s promise through civility, courage, compassion and character.”
We came across this quote recently and have grown very fond of what it states. Not caring who wrote it or who’s credited for saying it. Regardless of whether the writer was a white man or a black man. Regardless of whether the writer was a republican or a democrat. Regardless of whether or not they watch FOX News, MSNBC or subscribe to the Tea-Party Daily Express. Intrinsically, there is no mistaking the substance conveyed in the message.
Wilsonian Voices (WV) respects the opinions, views and comments of those who have offered to share them with us. Whether we agree or disagree. The language and tone has for the most part been civil and congenial. We applaud our FB friends and blog readers for executing such civility with one another and setting the boundaries to respectfully respond amicably to others whether you agree or disagree.

On Saturday May 7, 2011, I was blessed to have been able to attend the redistricting conference at Wilson Community College attended by State Senator David Rouzer of Johnston county. It was conducted by Senator Bob Rucho via sight-to-sight tele-conference. The presentation was very informative and I felt very well put together. It included Wilson, Edgecome, Dare & Pitt counties.
