Quote: “Today we affirm a new commitment to live out our nation’s promise through civility, courage, compassion and character.”
We came across this quote recently and have grown very fond of what it states. Not caring who wrote it or who’s credited for saying it. Regardless of whether the writer was a white man or a black man. Regardless of whether the writer was a republican or a democrat. Regardless of whether or not they watch FOX News, MSNBC or subscribe to the Tea-Party Daily Express. Intrinsically, there is no mistaking the substance conveyed in the message.
Wilsonian Voices (WV) respects the opinions, views and comments of those who have offered to share them with us. Whether we agree or disagree. The language and tone has for the most part been civil and congenial. We applaud our FB friends and blog readers for executing such civility with one another and setting the boundaries to respectfully respond amicably to others whether you agree or disagree.
We’ve tolerated for a few months now on our facebook page the rhetoric of a select few who have chosen to cross those boundaries. After several requests to tone down the rhetoric and leave the name calling out of the conversation, they’ve chosen to continue to be disrespectful. Hurling insults and politically badgering those who have differing opinions and views from their own.
FB friends concerned about the implication it was sending into the community sent messages to us expressing their disbelief and dissatisfaction. Those those brave enough to share your concern with us
we’d like to say a hearty thank you.Your care and concern for this community and this project speaks volumes. Thank you for the attention you've given.
This day we’re here to say, such “bad-behavior” will not continue on our FB page. Those individuals who belittle, berate and are belligerent will be removed from the site. We likened such behavior
along the lines of verbal cyberspace bullying and it will not be tolerated here. Not on Wilsonian Voices.
There are other sites that may better accommodate your style and your desire to degrade others, but that’s not here.
Now having said all that, we’ll end by saying “We’re so glad we’ve had this time together, to share a laugh and sing a song.” All you Carol Burnett fans know how it goes… And now, we’ll wiggle our ear and bid the “bullies” farewell and say “ On Wilsonian Voices Your right to free speech does not supersede the right to be respectful of others and their opinions whether you agree or disagree.” Adieu & God Bless You!
Oh yeah, by the way, the quote we mentioned at the beginning of this message believe it or not was spoken by George W. Bush. Whether you agree or disagree… lol-smh
