Now, let's just go ahead and put it out there for folks who are not from here and don't know the area. YES. The Daniel Hill/ Park Ave area consist predominatly of African Americans and other minorities. Not surprised. Of course not. Well, we didn't think you would be. The chemicals they claim the plant will be using in particular are ferric sulfate and ferrous sulfate.
The plant would sit in the midst of this community and the property borders the community park on one side and the COW housing authority on another.
FYI... BTW, We hear, serving as a property owner of the homes located in this area, the Wilson Housing Authority (WHA) has given their "OK" per the Executive Director, Edward Jagnandan on moving forward with this project. No Shi'ddigty, why wouldn't you?
That leaves one to wonder, how is it that the WHA, who serves the COW speak on behalf of the "actual residents" who dwell on the properties. Just asking.
In particular and especially, if those current residents seriously oppose the chemical plant's operation barely 50 feet away from their front door. That's something to think about.
Will these WHA residents be penalized in some way for speaking out against this. Will they be targeted and black listed for future assistance. Will they marked as "troublemakers" and harrassed for taking a stand for what they believe. These are valid questions and concerns. Whether you agree or disagree.
Ok, this question is for the community's neighborhood association group. Answer for yourself the following question. NO. Not ask yourself - answer. How many folks who live in the WHA properties have you seen attend your meetings?
If you can say they've been participating then ...GREAT! BUT... if you cannot and you have not had any residents who lives in any of those WHA homes sit in on these meetings... ALERT PEOPLE... that's something that should make you go...Hmmm.
For whatever their objective is (reasoning), these folks (the COW) are trying hard to persuade this community this operation they're presenting is "ok" to exist in their backyard and in some cases their front yard.
Here's another tidbit; And in spite of all the meetings, unbeknowst to the citizens, this City was going ahead ANYWAY with the process of bringing these folks to town. NEVER MIND what the citizens in the immediate area had to say about it. Now that's a real (uh ah.) for ya. And you better look into running for cover. (Yea, some of you O.T's get it.)
After seeing them test drive a rail car the other day, that was the "tell-tell sign" a decision has pretty much already been made. Why else would we have seen this solo rail riding a track that hasn't been used in years.
Now, the mantra is these chemicals they'll be using are safe and won't harm you. BELIEVE US..wink...wink. There will be NO ODOR, YOU WON'T SMELL A THING. As if that's a comforting factor the citizens to cross off their list as a major concern. Yeah, RIGHT!
It's not the same as the concern surrounding the poultry processing plant when the COW took issue with it coming to the REGION. Not even inside the COUNTY LINE or the CITY LIMITS....pssst...HELLO!

PITIFUL.WHERE THEY WANT TO PUT THIS CHEMICAL PLANT IS PARTLY IN HIS DISTRICT HE HAS SINCE HAD HIS FAMILY FARM REZONED FOR A MUTIMILLION DOLLAR SHOPPING CENTER AND BUSINESS STRIP MALL ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE NEW JONES SCHOLL, THAT HE SHEPARDED THE LOCATION OF IT , HIS ONE TERM ON THE SCHOOL BOARD TO LOCATE IT ACROSS THE STREET FROM HIS REAL ESTATE SUBDIVION. BOTH TRANSACTIONS HAVE MADE BOTH PICES OF HIS REAL ESTATE ALOT MORE VALUABLE. HOW FORTUNATE FOR MR LILES. IS IT JUST A COINCIDENCE HE HAPPENS TO BE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME POLITICALLY?
