Closing of The Old Woodard Post Office Brings Zone Change Request

IMPORTANT MESSAGE >
FOR FOLKS WHO KNOW FOLKS WHO LIVE IN & AROUND THE OLD WOODARD POST OFFICE on NASH STREET. HERE IS INFORMATION YOU CAN PASS ALONG TO THEM!!!!

On Thursday, November 17th, there will be a City Council meeting at 7:00 pm - City Hall, Council Chambers. One of the items on the agenda deals with what to do with the old building. The owners of the building want to change the zoning area from residential to business. So what does that mean?

What that means is the owners could lease the property to folks who may want to put a business in the area that does fit the character of the community and would not be a good fit in the neighborhood. We hear they want to place a convenience store there much like the one at the end of Powell St. and the one that is across from Fikewood Shopping center.

With the re-development and revitalization of Freeman Place and the new homes being built to give the neighborhood a new look, placing a convenience or any other service business that would not be a good fit is not a good idea. It may be a profittable one for the owners but not a congenial one for the community.

The bottom line is if you live in this area and you really would not like to see a convenience store sitting in between a house and an apartment complex you need to send a spokesperson from the neighborhood to share those thoughts to the City Council members.

Just one neighbor. Just one voice. To make a difference in the community you call home. Send someone to the City Council to say ...NO to the zone change request.

They idea brings good to few and to the developer but not the majority in the community. It should be better to listen to the voice of all..
