Looking for Solutions... Make That Change.

CHANGE . . . Depending on its benefits . . . Depending on the circumstances… Depending on your state of mind. . . AND . . . Depending on WHO you ask . . . Can Be A “Good Thing.”

NOW, on the other hand, CHANGE . . . Depending on who you are and whether or not you’ve got your hand in the cookie jar might not be such a “good thang” because you fear you’re gonna lose some “privileged benefits” you may currently have.

SO again, depending on WHO – YOU ask - CHANGE may or may not be a good thang. Let’s look at the situation.

CHANGE – when you’re talking about the East side of town – Well, things haven’t changed much in the past 15 years or so… and 15 years is a long doggone time for nothing to have happened in the terms of growth, expansion, prospering opportunities and a better quality of life for yourself, your family and your friends who live on this side of town.

Businesses that once served us have closed up shop and pretty much vowed never to return – at least that’s what it looks like from this side of the fence. There are those who say the crime rate is so high on this side of town a popular grocery store that used to be in Fikewood Plaza had to close its doors. Dealerships that were once a main draw to pull folks to this side of town have relocated to the area in town that has seen the most growth and flourishing prosperity. No need to wonder why.

So you must ask yourself – is this a good thing or not.

IF IT IS a good thing - then this message is NOT for you. Make a mad dash to the trash… IF IT’S not a “good thang” then you need to keep reading.

The overall status of this community with regards to the East side of town has rested in the hands of those in whom we’ve trusted down through the years by voting for them over and over and over again. And what have we received for doing that year, after year, after year?

Well what you see is what you get. We’ve slowly watched the East side deteriorate. Decline. Go down. Depreciate. Weaken. Worsen. It all means the same thing. East Wilson is the poor side of this city. Oops… let me watch my mouth. What’s that other word folks like to use – oh yeah, “disparity.” East Wilson has the most disparity in our wonderful All-American city.

Pay attention – LOOK AROUND YOU – does this side of town in anyway look like or resemble the rest of this city???

Of course not. However, I’ve been told you people are doing alright over there. Really. I guess their interpretation of “all right” is – you people have a grocery store, a family dollar, a dollar general and a few gas stations, you’ve got a McDonald’s and a KFC … you’ve got all the necessities you need - what more do you people want.

Local elected officials that YOU voted for to speak on your behalf and to care about this community you call home the same way you do have betrayed your trust and deceived you.

SO – WHY DO YOU KEEP ASKING FOR MORE BY CONTINUING TO VOTE THESE FOLKS INTO OFFICE?  WHY?

You really need to dare do something different this time around. You really do. I DARE YOU to make a change. For yourself. For your family. For your friends. WE, The PEOPLE who live in East Wilson deserve the same services and facilities JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE IN THIS CITY... It's about time you EAST WILSON or you FIVE POINTS area and any other neglected and overlooked population in this city. It's about time YOU thought the same! NO, I TAKE THAT BACK. IT'S WAAY PAST TIME. Make that CHANGE!
