Sheriff Candidate Forum Review

"Informative and productive" was how Rev. Alonzo Braggs described the May Primary Candidates forum held last evening at Bethel AME Zion church in Stantonsburg. Citizens from around the city and county converged to hear the issues, platforms and ask questions of the candidates running for Wilson County Sheriff. Calvin Woodard was in attendance. It was reported due to a previous engagement Wayne Gay was not available. Supporters for both candidates had opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation relative to the sheriff's race.

I would have bet my right arm wayne would not show up. he is in a battle for his political life. it just occured to me he has very rarely had opposition since he has been sheriff. only token and only once or twice. when that happens it doesnt take many votes to remain in power. just alot of money from wealthy special interest cronies. to my knowledge he has never had a democratic primary challenger and in wilson county the winner of the demcratic primary is usually the sheriff.he has never had a primary challenge from such a qualified candidate as Special Agent Calvin Woodard of the State Bureau of Investigation who has the modern skills and training to lead our sheriffs dept into the Twenty First Century. he will restore the honor , fairness and dignity the citizens of Wilson County have every right to deserve back into the sacred office of Sheriff of Wilson County NC
