A Scumbag... Such Language Is Unbecoming

No need to ask whatever happened to civilty in the exchange of "agreeing to disagree." Times have "a changed" in these here parts and folks have become down right mean-spirited with ill-intent and it shows.

Do you remember the song, "every move you make, every breath you take, I'll be watching you?" Ironically, it was a very popular tune back in the day, sung by a vocal group called "The Police."  With no pun intended, it seems to be a lot of Wilsonians are taking that position when it comes to the new sheriff in town.

Every single thing he does in accordance to what new administrations normally do when there's a change of guard is being scrutinized and criticized under the microscope.

The comparison counters that of how some Americans treat the president of the United States. It's even mentioned in a recent remark by a fellow citizen. You decide... Here are a few comments being made by fellow Wilsonians around the town. Our afterthoughts follow in red italic. A rebuttal of sort to balance the verbal attacks and assaults against the man and his administration who were just sworn into office four days.

COMMENT...Why give Calvin a chance? There are 19 deputies that didnt get a chance! Some of them deserved to be canned however there where some deputies that did there job and protected this county and got fired for no reason at all. SO NO dont give him a chance. He is SORRY! I hope that the citizens of wilson county give him "HADES" the next four years! He is a liar and a Scumbag!

(Humm... provactive choice of words…and it made it through the gatekeepers at the local paper. That’s a first. Never recall letting such venemous rhetoric getting through when Wayne Gay was the sheriff. That's interesting.

COMMENT... So now Woodard has his good ole boys in office and is setting up his network. How many people slammed Gay for doing the same thing?? Sad to see people with all those years' service and investment in a job being let go. And to everyone that says it's sad but something that must happen… I'm assuming if it were you and your family losing a job after 30 years then things would feel a little different?

Change we wanted and change we are going to get. I believe that was the same hope in Obama that brought change we have since regretted as the approval ratings show.

[CHANGE.. the definition mentions to make different; cause a transformation; to make the form, nature, content, course, and so on of something different from what it is, was and would be if left alone such as it had been for the past 28 years. No longer is this county "Stuck On Stupid" and held in captivity by one man's regime of being in a position for far too long. (We'll be working on the Big Four in city council come 2011).

WE, THE PEOPLE of Wilson, NC... DARED TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
WE, THE PEOPLE wanted CHANGE.
WE, THE PEOPLE VOTED all 16,000 plus of us - WE VOTED FOR CHANGE. WE GOT THAT.
(So sorry for your loss. Both times around.)]

COMMENT...“Folks, Calvin didn't get voted in as much as Wayne Gay (and John Farmer by default) got voted out. Now it's apparent that we're in worse shape than before. As to those calling "sour grapes" or "move if you don't like Calvin", this is America and the 1st Amendment still guarantees free speech. We "ain't" going anywhere and as a politician Sheriff Woodard and his new bunch of cronys are fair game. If your candidate didn't make dumb moves, he wouldn't be open to criticism. Get over that! LOL!”

[Your Criticism doesn’t sign the bottomline Buddy. Gay’s out. Farmer’s gone. And there ain’t no coming back no time soon. Not for the next 4 years. Now, in 4 years when this man's term is up if the citizens of this county want something different - they'll do something different. But until such time as that – blow, blow and blow some mo' you ain’t gonna knock this house down that Sheriff Woodard is building. And as the story goes, the little piggly went "wee, wee, wee all the way home." Ain't you seen the commercial, Bubba... Now, would you care for some tea and crumpets?]

I guess some folks just want to show their lack of education and home training. There is no excuse for such rudeness. Our new Sheriff is a good and decent person, I wonder if they have him confused with the last Sheriff. I saw a change in morale the night Calvin won when the deputies said they were looking forward to going to work again. I have worked in places with good morale and poor morale. Believe me, the good morale comes from the top, the boss and it trickles down to the good and decent employees. Sheriff Woodard is making us proud and will make a difference in our county. There is no pride in coming from a county with a disreputable and shady Sheriff like we had before.

I supported Mr. Woodard, then grew impatient he dint fix every thing the first day. I was called to the carpet by some people on here, but they did in a way that was respectful yet got their point accross. Yes some people were not sworn in, some were demoted. I can only speak for the one I knew about and he was demoted. In that case he deserved it and it was long overdue. In most case people wanted change, we voted Mr.Woodard in to do a job and he is doing it. We were disatisfied with what we had and wanted things changed. I can see no change he has made that puts the department in worse shape thna it was in. As i was reminded few days ago, be patient. Mr.Woodard has a big difficult job ahead and not everyone will be pleased with his actions. But reguardless of whether we aprove or not, we should give him the respect we would want for ourselves. IN my opinon and obviously many others we appluad the changes Mr.Woodard has made and I say good job, please continue, And its alright to disagree but do so with respect, after all we all have our values and no man, not Mr. WOodard or anyone can please EVERYONE. I turely elieve we have an honest sincer sheriff who will do a good job. Lets give him time and support.

Sheriff Calvin Woodard has been elected and sworn in so therefore all the haters may as well get the hell over it.

Sheriff Woodard stay focused and don't get caught up in mess. Do your best and God will take care of the rest because he didn't bring you this far to leave you.

Agreed and well said. the majority of the voters put Mr.Woodard in office. They did that because they were disatisfied with the way the department had been run. Mr. Woodard has done what he thinks is best, and if that includes mmaking some changes then that is why the majority voted him in. FOR A CHANGE IN LEDRSHIP. to this point he has been making changes in key positions... In our country, we vote on issues and people and the majority rules. Win or lose its the way our country works, and it might not be perfect, but I can think of no where I would rather live. I like it here, and I think Wilson is going to be a better place to live BECAUSE of Sheriff Woodard and his leadership.

though I dont agree with most of what this person wrote, I saw inthe paper JT bass was taken out of detectives postion and made a patrol deputey, but no comment on allegations we have all heard and read about. A lot of people are curious, was it investigated? Was it true? there has to be a reason he was demoted. Why nt make public why it was done. Though I commend taking him out, if what has been told was true concerning his actions, I would think termination was more what would be clled for. If the allegation are not true then why demote him. I would want my name cleared if i wereinnocent. Looks kinda fiahy to me. I realize I dont know the details ,thats why I am asking. And I think thus far our new sheriff has done a great job! I am curious about this one thing. It has has so much written and said about it.And then he was demoted but nit fired? Not critizing, just curious as to why?
