Forget going postal . . . A dip & a dunk will do this morning.
New Postmaster Plunges into Position...Literally Speaking
The event will take place in the parking lot of the post office at 501 Mercer St. SW at 8:30 a.m.
With Wilson roots, newly named postmaster Alisa Bassa will officially and publicly be initiated into her position this morning. Bassa will be the target of her employees while seated inside a dunking booth following a wager issued last fall.
While serving as the officer in charge, Bassa challenged her employees to contribute a minimum of $3,500 to a federally sponsored charity. They raised over $5,000 for the Combined Federal Campaign. In return, she agreed to give Wilson postal workers a chance to dunk their boss.
"The employees work hard enough each day to serve the great citizens of this city," Bassa said. "It's a small thing for me to do in appreciation of their efforts both for their daily duties as well as for their philanthropy."
Wilson resident and graduate of Beddingfield High School, Bassa took on the role of postmaster last month but will use today's event as an opportunity to meet and greet the public under her new designation.
