Opinion: County Resident Speaks Out

County Residents Request: Disclose salaries of all County Officials

It is my opinion that all that serve in Wilson County government need to take a pay cut. All white collar jobs are out of control on their salaries. The people of Wilson County cannot afford to pay $144,517 for a sheriff. Also I wonder just what are Ellis Williford and others in the county being paid? This is a question that I would like answered. We (The county residents) cannot afford to pay a sheriff this amount of money.

Williford speaks like money is not an issue in Wilson County. The officials think that all they have to do is say we need, when in fact all of us need. But all of Wilson County residents are having to tighten their belts. I am having to do without, and I am sure there are quite a large number of others doing without.

The Wilson County government thinks they have a bottomless pit when it comes to our money. This is unreal.
When do the residents of Wilson County see a reduction in Wilson County government? When do we see a handout? When do we see a reasonable tax cut?

If you can't pay your taxes or don't, see what will happen to your property. This is property a lot of us have worked all our life to get, and the county will show you just how fast they will acquire it. It is time to stop this kind of pay for any official in Wilson County. No wonder Wayne Gay was upset. I would hate to lose that kind of money too.

They say we need new ambulances. Please tell me why. Why does the county need new ambulances? We all have to make do some time, and this is the time. For the cost of a new ambulance there could be a lot of repairs done. Each time you call 911, here come at least two ambulances, not to mention fire, sheriff or city law.

Please publish all the salaries for Wilson County government. I would like to see where my tax paying dollars go.
