Wilson Held Hostage - Long Enough

Dear Fellow Wilsonians, Did you know,

Some mayors around Eastern NC are aggressively seeking ways  to get their cities and towns from underneath the claw of ElectriCities. They're forming a coaltion and the Citizens of Wilson should pay attention. Bruce Rose is not one of them.

But you already know that. He's not even giving it consideration. You also know that too. We're not really telling you anything you don't already know.

Regardless if the City of Wilson refuses to be a part of this coaliton, the Citizens of Wilson should not be held hostage by their refusal but rather take an active role in supporting and joining these mayors.

You know the story - you've heard it a hundred times already - We're in debt and we can't get out.
(Reminds me of the commercial where the lady lying on the floor & says I've fallen and I can't get up.)

Our debt owed is $$$ blah, blah, blah. If the  nuclear accident on Three Mile Island hadn't happened blah blahbblah blaha blahh,...some more. Well, the Power Players -  Duke Energy & Progress Energy have decided to merge. They're hoping by the end of the year. And if there were ever a more opportune time to DISCUSS the notion of coming from underneath the debt ..ah... it would be about now b 4 the merger ever happens. You think?

Regardless of the what the outcome may be - the ATTEMPT to at least TRY is well worth the EFFORT. Refusal to even consider this option is a spit in the face of the citizens of this community by City Council. That's just gross!

ESPECIALLY... when elected officials have heard directly from the citizens that they want them to find a way out and terminate ElectriCities. Citizens are not ignorant to the fact that if this City Council troupe really wants something they have such a tenacity about them that if they go after it they usually come up with the targeted desire. Come hell or high water (speaking of water) they'll find a way to git' er done.

We won't even get into the many projects around this town that has their signature mark upon them. Not this go around anyway. We'll save it for another day.

Here's a story you need to read.  And after you read the story, keep in mind on Saturday, July 18th around 11am at 901 Tarboro Street, some of these Mayors are coming to Wilson to inform and educate our citizens about what's going on with their efforts. If you can we hope you'll attend.

Till the next time around, We'll be watching, so you be watching.
We'll see what we see. The Wilson Watchdog - (Pittbull/Chihuahua mix)

The Follow UP:

According to the local newspaper, New Bern Mayor Lee Bettis and Rocky Mount Councilman Andre Knight traveled to Wilson to talk with residents about electric rates and shared concerns about the pending merger of Duke Energy with Progress Energy Carolinas.

The elected officials were invited, along with other state and local leaders, including the Wilson City Council. The meeting drew close to 20 residents.

None of the members of the Wilson City Council attended the meeting.

Some of the Wilson residents said they don’t believe local elected officials are responsive to their concerns about the high cost of electricity.

Residents were encouraged to otganize and press elected officials. Accountability was a key emphasis.

WV Commentary:

Unfortunately, we don't think Wilsonians understand the gravity of what that means exactly and what it entails. To press elected officials to do the right thing and to address issues and concerns you voted them into office to do.

Each of you reading this article need to ask yourself this one question. AND THEN ANSWER YOURSELF OUT LOUD TO YOURSELF - Is Gwen Burton sitting on the board doing what I want her to do? Is James Johnson sitting on the board doing what I want them to do? Is AP Coleman sitting on the board doing what I want him to do? Is Bruce Rose representing in such a manner that I would want my mayor to represent me? Is he addressing the needs and concerns of this community fairly?

The question is - can you as a resident of the City of Wilson even ask yourself to ask yourself these questions.

You're only as good as the folks you surround yourself with.

Stop for a moment and take a real good look at what/who you've surrounded yourself with.

The Mindset of The City:

Wilsonians are moreso use to being told what to do that they don't understand they employ the elected officers. They don't understand it's their vote that keeps sending these folks back into office every 4 years. They can't seem to connect the dots that Bruce Rose is the key culprit that ties the knot between Wilson and ElectriCites and HE DOES NOT want to cut the tie that binds. So, as long as Bruce Rose says so Wilson is gonna be involved with ElectriCities. WHICH MEANS YOU WILL BE INVOLVED WITH ELECTRICITIES. Whether you like it or not. Agree or Disagree.

Lastly,The mind boggling thing here is Wilsonians (YOU, the very one reading this post) allowed this council to take a million dollars of YOUR TAX MONEY go over to NASH COUNTY, where these folks can't vote for them or put them into office and use it to fight a water issue. YET, the same energy used by the Wilson Council was never considered on your behalf or this community's to deal with the electricity issue in the same like manner.

HELLO... Nash County residents got a million dollars of your money Wilsonians to fight about water and you can't even get them to give us a dollar to fight the electricity issue.

Just Asking...How ignorant is that?
