Wilson Celebrates Its Community Champions

Wilson citizens gathered on Friday night at Darden Alumni Center for an evening of celebration and fun. The Human Relations Awards Banquet honors those who work diligently and unremittingly within the community. The Humanitarian of the Year award is the highest honor the Commission can bestow to a citizen who has given unselfishly above and beyond the call. The theme this year for the 39th annual event is "Community Champions."

Paul Lee Stevens, a well known humanitarian for close to 30 years, served as the vice-chair of the Wilson Human Relations commission during the 1980’s. This award was created to honor his dedication and commitment to the community. Daryl Woodard, last year's recipient winner served as the keynote speaker.
