Thanks DCNTV for posting this. A lot of people did not get to see the debate and I will direct them to Wilsonian Voices so they can see it. I will review it again this weekend. By the way, the early voting is doing great. Over 800 voted on the first day. Mr. Farmer did not show up. Calvin had lots of supporters there and of course, he was there bright and early to greet the voters. This was an exciting day for his supporters.

Wow! Why should Mr. Farmer have shown up? It was only the first day of early voting, nothing earth-shattering. I saw the debate on the Wilson Times website. Calvin goes: "der" for "there"; "dem" for "them"; "de" for "the"; "git" for "get." Wilson County's finest? I don't think so.

Just looked up Calvin's educational background and found that his master's degree came from CMU (Central Michigan University). Seems that it's one of those off-campus, online programs. The rest of the list of "certificates" and "training" reads like my list of in-service workshops required over the past years for my job. I'd hardly list them as educational background unless I was desperate to impress. Calvin's having sat on his behind through numerous workshops doesn't make up for his lack of actual experience.

Speculation. Intimidation. Hating on the player and not the game. Mockery. Anonymous what are you so jealous about? That YOU didn't do the same before now so you could have ran instead of Calvin???

Some folks just want to disqualify Calvin just because. They have no real substantial reasons for not liking him or supporting him or even wanting to see his name on the ballot. The evil in their hearts just ooze out of their mouths cause it has no where else to go. There are plenty folks in Wilson who just don't want to see a Black man become Sheriff of this county. In their eyes its an abomination. Isn't it good to know...there are others that outnumber that kind of thinking in this county and are pressing on toward the mark of the higher call. This race is a fight... it is an excellent example of fighting the good fight of faith. It takes all kinds to make the world go around and to make this world a better place. Wilson is proving that to itself and to the world. GO WILSON ...DO THE RIGHT THING!

I agrre with the above statement. I look beyond the race of the man and look at the man. I heard the debate, I was impressed by not only what Mr. Wood said but by the way he presented himself. Very knowlegable and very professional. He certainly has the credentals to becme our next sheriff. While it is true, in reality we do not know what kind of a sheriff Mr. Woodard will be, I am impressed with his past history and listening to himin the debate he won my vote. I look as his opponent, and wonder why now all of a sudden he runs for office. I look at the rumors that have surfaced in this election about poor book keeping, missing funds. Mr Farmer has the experience that cannot be denied. But experience is does not make a leader. Nor does it instal values and crediablity. How does MR. Farmer explain all the things that happened while he was the number 2 man in the organazation? Even the Wilson Daily times hinted at deputies having sexual encounter while on duty. Howver it has later been written that it was not deputies but a certian detective who was supposedly having these encounters in the detecties building. That makes it even worse, your detectives you would expect to hold to an even higher code. Yet this detective still works for our departement. This kind of conduct went on under Mr. Farmer's leadership. It happened and the reason no one from the WCSD has denied it is they KNOW THEY CANNOT DENY it.
But back to my orignal comment, I am white but I believe that Mr. Woodard is the beetter candiate, I believe he will bring the WCSD back to where it should be.. Respected in the comunnity and the state. I do not see that under the current leadership, not do I forsee that happening with MR. Farmer in charge. I really hope all the citizens in Wilson, will look at the candidate, and what each candidate will bring to the office. It should not be a race thing, it should be who is the better man. In my opinion, in this case it is Mr. Woodard and he will get my vote on elcetion day.

I really don't feel that using "dem" for "them," "dis" for "this," and "der" for "there" qualifies as presenting oneself as knowledgeable and professional.
