Hey Google. . . Go GreenLight

Guest Blogger: Daryl Barber

Here's a suggestion for the Mayor and City Council sell greenlight to google. If Google is looking for a city to experiment with broadband service Wilson would be perfect as we already have the infrastructure in place. Sell green light to google and use the proceeds to pay off part of Wilson's obligations to the ElectiCities/NCEMPA debt.

However, the greedy arrogant city officials probably don't want to do that just like they didnt want to sell our utility distribution back in 1989 when we could have gotten out of this mess. They love the goose that lays the golden egg and love having the ability to adjust rates up to meet their wants at any time. If greenlight doesn't end up paying its own way then we will have another ElectriCities on our hands."

(further comment)the reality is Wilson has obligated its citizens to a long term debt that if it doesnt pay its own way, the citizens and ratepayers will. that said if google wants to hit the ground running and not spend several years in building a fiber-optic network infrastructure greenlight although misguided would be a perfect acquisition for them. . it can if our idiotic elected officials would seize the opportunity to bail us out of this questionable venture and alleviate some antitrust litigation with TWC over using public funds to compete with a private industry and any funds derived from such purchase be used to payoff greenlight obligations and as google might would be willing to pay a premium for a broadband infrastructure already in place may would help pay down Wilson's share of the longterm electricities debt that the idiots didnt have enough sense to get us out of in 1989 when they could have. i am expressing my
