Dem Party Drama Comments

Recent Wilson Times article Dems want chair out - Boykin: 'Statement forthcoming' discussed that six Wilson Democrats sent a letter to the State Democratic Chairman David Young asking the party to remove Chris Boykin as the chair of the Wilson County Democratic party. "I hope it doesn't go that far," said Gwen Wilkins, chairwoman of the 1st Congressional District. "I hope he resigns. I don't know if he will."

Well, we're always ready and willing to help keep hope alive...however, we also keep it real and know the deal and the difference between fiction and fact. If the local party was going to do the right thing for the party and the people Boykin would have and should have removed himself several months ago.
Here are COMMENTS from that article:

county and state rerpublicans are unanimous said... please let him stay. and the longer rangel and waters drag out their misdeeds the better for the national party.

to Its about time said...what does AB swindell have to do with this article??? try to keep it on topic

repubs want him to stay said...keeps the democratic party corruption in the public mind and eye.

let him keep hanging ontill nov said...he is doing the republican party as big a favor as the two democfratic liberal stalwart crooks in the U S congress. charlie rangel and maxine waters. the longer all three drag out their malfeasance and corruption the more exposed the democratic party is to their history of corruption. NC is the most corrupt state in the country , with all due respect to illinois, louisiana and new jersey from city halls , to the county courthouses,to the state legislature and the governors mansion to our us congesspeople and senators. bot parties have had ethical issues but the democratic party has had a stranglehold on local and state politics for well over 150 years and their corruption, politically patroange , cronyism, nepotism and good ole boy networking is legendary. the king of political patronage was our own James b Hunt Jr who loaded state boards and depts up with his cronies and political benfactors and friends and their families. many turned out to use their positions for personal political and financial gain.

the comments all in caps said... for those that may not know were directed to COUSIN BOBBY SID BOYETTE, A PRODUCT OF THE JIM HUNT POLITICAL PATRONAGE AND CRONYISM LEGACY, WHO IS IN LINE TO BE THE NEXT CHAIRMAN OF THE WILSON COUNTY COMMSSIONERS IF THE IMBECILE ELECTORATE OF WILSON COUNTY CHOOSE TO CONTINUE THEIR SADO MASOCHISM AND GLUTTONY FOR PUNISHMENT WITH THE LIBERAL BIG TAX AND SPEND DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY IDIOTS.MY GUESS IS THEY WILL THEY SEEM TO LOVE PUNISHMENT. BUT THERE IS HOPE , THEY FINALLY CAME TO THEIR SENSE ABOUT WAYNE GAY AND SAW HIM FOR WHO HE IS. HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL.

(YOU GUYS CUT THE RATE A FEW CENTS PER HUNDRED SO YOU CAN FOOL THE ELECTORATE INTO SAYING YOU GAVE THEM A TAX CUT WHEN IN REALITY MOST PEOPLE NETTED A 16 TO 18 PERCENT PROPERTY TAX INCREASE) TO COMPOUND MATTERS THE CITY USES THE COUNTY REVALUATION FIGURES FOR THEIR TAX ASSESSMENT SO WE GOT HIT WITH A DOUBLE WHAMMY THANKS TO YOU AND YOUR COHORTS. 5)GOD HELP US AS YOU APPEAR TO BE NEXT IN LINE FOR THE COUNTY CHAIRMANSHIP SHOULD THE IDIOTS OF WILSON COUNTY DECIDE TO CONTINUE THIS MADNESS WITH A DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY. THEY HAVE NEVER SHOWED ME ANY REASON TO THINK THEY MAY HAVE FINALLY COME TO THEIR SENSES EXCEPT FOR THE OUSTER OF WAYNE GAY. MAYBE THERE IS HOPE AFTER ALL. I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS HENRY PHILLIPS OF BAILEY WHO IS RUNNING AGAINST YOU AND TAD PINER WHO IS RUNNING AGAINST BUCKY BOY ROBBINS ,BUT I AND IF ANY CITIZEN OF THIS COUNTY HAS ANY SENSE AT ALL, THEY WILL FIND OUT ALL THEY CAN ABOUT BOTH OF THEM AND SUPPORT THEM FINANCIALLY OR ANY OTHER WAY THEY POSSIBLY CAN TO STOP THIS MADNESS AND RESTORE SOME FISCAL DISCIPLINE TO THAT ILLUSTRIOUS BOARD.

Question said...How has Mr. Boykin "...not endorsed and refuses to acknowledge the Democratic nominee for the Wilson County Sheriff's Department"? How has he supported the candidate for the opposing party, failed to perform the duties of his job, or been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude? How has it created "community chaos with racial undertones"? This doesn't reflect the feelings of the entire Democratic party, of which I am a member. It is unfortunate that small groups try to make decisions for the entire party, because the petitioners who signed the letter definitely are not speaking for me.

said...I read the article, including the letter. I question the statement that Mr. Boykin "has not endorsed and refuses to acknowledge" Mr. Woodard. I also can't see how Mr. Boykin has supported the opposing party's candidate, failed to perform the duties of his job, or been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude. And is it Mr. Boykin who is causing "community chaos with racial undertones," or this group of petitioners who all happen to be African-American?

It's about time! said...So the good ole boy network starts to crumble.I just hope that the democrats that have said it is time for a change do not forget the good ole boy AB Swindell. He is right there in the middle of this club. The Committee to elect Wayne Gay donated $500 and Chris Boykin donated $200 to his campaign. That should tell you a lot about Swindell. I hope voters remember this in the fall. It is time for Swindell to go as well!

Crock of Crap said...All I can do is laugh when I read this one. Boykin still hasn't stepped down? He is the poster child for the democratic party and he isn't even listening to them. They just want a good democrat to replace him. Are their any out there? We as a republican party laugh at the fact that the democrats have made this a two sided, split party, racial election. But they also are planning on that working to get Farmer into office. The republicans are not stupid. We see your smokescreens. The reason everyone has taken their time to speak out is because they don't want Woodard to win... they are involved with the dirty politics that is Wilson County. I hope they all get replaced by people that care about someone other than themselves.

I think Boykin should stay as long as he can. A letter has been sent to Raleigh, which was made available for reading on the newspaper's website. I don't think any of the allegations made in the letter can be substantiated. IF Raleigh differs, it's still going to take a while for all of the meetings to be held to remove Boykin. And the committees in Raleigh may agree that no wrong has been done by Boykin. I would never vote for any candidate based on his political party...that's just mindless voting. A vote should be for the most qualified candidate regardless of political party. By the way...why was it that all the petitioners who signed the letter to Raleigh were African-Americans? Could their complaints be construed as racially motivated?

Since you have posted your letter several times on this site, I will respond once. First of all, Mr. Boykin is hurting all Democratics running for office in the local and state races. He will not answer phone calls, see visitors and respond to emails. I personally know this to be true. We need to have a meeting and plan our strategy for the fall campaign. He refuses to call a meeting. He is also turning people against voting for his friend John Farmer. The integrity (doing the right thing even when no one is looking) of the Sheriff's Office is jeopardized by his behavior. He is blatantly disregarding the rules and regulations of his position as Party Chair. Part of his duties are to support the nominees for every office including the Sheriff's Office. Since he chooses to disregard the rules, it makes one wonder if he handles his job at the Sheriffs Office the same way. Perhaps he has been doing that for so long under Wayne Gay's rule, it is just second nature to him. This race has been very telling as to the integrity of the three top leaders, starting with Wayne Gay's outbursts when losing, Boykin's refusal to support the Democratic Nominee for Sheriff and John Farmer's blind eye to not telling his friend to do the right thing and step down.

I doubt that the committee in Raleigh will just look the other way and allow Boykin to remain the Wilson County Democratic Chair. Evidently you are not aware that persons of all races have contacted the State Democratic Party concerning this injustice here in Wilson County. This has never been a racially motivated Sheriff's Race. Come to a Calvin Woodard event and see a very diverse group working together for a common goal That goal is to elect a Sheriff who is cares about the future of Wilson County and has stepped forward to take on the challenge. The most qualified candidate is Calvin Woodard. Education, experience, awareness, great listening skills, honesty, openness to new ideas, organization, transparency, courage, diversity, good common sense, goal setting and achieving goals have been the backbone of Calvin's campaign. If you base your vote on who is most qualified, like most of us are, then you must be voting for Calvin Woodard, regardless of your political affiliation. See you at the polls.

I'm voting for John Farmer because he has actual EXPERIENCE rather than just certificates of completion of courses!

And I supposed the 15 years Calvin Woodard spent with the Sheriff's Department are not counted as experience. In that case, the Sheriff's Department trainers, i.e. Wayne Gay, John Farmer and Chris Boykin, must have done a very poor job of training if that is your reasoning. Do we want a poor trainer for our next Sheriff? If you vote for John Farmer for Sheriff, that is what you will get since he helped train Calvin. You will be voting for more of the same and very few want that as you should have seen in the May Primary. But that is okay if you did not see it then, we are doing a second act in November and then maybe you will get it when Calvin wins again. Calvin Woodard, Sheriff of Wilson County, North Carolina. Sounds good to me. I hope John Farmer knows how to make a better concession speech than Wayne Gay. Maybe Wayne needs to work with John on that, he sure did a lousy job of using any good manners he may have been taught when he gave his. And by the way, Masters, Bachelor, and Associate Degrees are true accomplishments that show one can stick to something and complete it. Calvin Woodard has worked hard not only getting experience but also knowledge and is commended for those accomplishments. If you have ever worked for and received a degree, you would know what I mean. This is not 1810 where all you needed to be a Sheriff was a gun and a badge. This is 2010 and it takes a lot more than experience to run a Sheriffs Department. All of Wayne Gay's experience lost the May Primary. What is your excuse for that? More of the same, no thank you. Wilson County needs experience and education, the kind that Calvin Woodard will bring to the Sheriff's Department as the next Sheriff of Wilson County. Have a great day.
