Sheriffs Team Apprehending Re-offenders.
Project Description: This project is designed to focus on the criminal element that are considered career criminals. By taking the the career criminal off the streets and prosecuting them in both state and federal court system where they will receive the active punishment that will keep them from commiting other crimes.
This team will target business and residential areas for criminal activity that disrupts and prevents business and living without being victimized or witnessing continuing criminal activity. This project will concentrate on repeat offenders with an emphasis on the violent repeat offenders.Violent crime has become one of the most labor intensive and costly crimes that law enforcement, judical and correction offical deal with each day. Over the last five years 53% of violent crimes have been commited by re-offenders. By working with our state and federal partners we can ensure that those who continue to commit serious and violent crimes are charged and prosecuted as career criminals and removed from our communities until rehabilitated in the correctional system. This will result in lowere violent crime rate that will attract businesses as well as new development in Wilson County.
This will lead to lower unemployment rates, increased revenue for the county and funds previously used to investigate re-offenders violent crimes can be diverted other area of concern for a proactive approach.

By doing this those who may have thoughts of commiting crimes may become discouraged by the punishment they see their criminal peers receving and choose not to commits any crimes. This will result in safer living and working environment which will lead to more business coming to our area, more people wanting to move to our area and a lower unemployment rate. This will result on less tax dollars being spent on the crime problems, prosecuting the criminals and helping those in need.
